BURNABY, BC – The BC Liquor Distribution Branch’s (LDB) annual Do You Proud campaign, in celebration of Pride, raised a record amount of more than $81,500 for its non-profit partner QMUNITY, thanks to the generous donations of customers at BCLIQUOR (BCL) and BC Cannabis Stores (BCCS) in June. This donation marks a 31 per cent increase from last year’s campaign.
As a flagship campaign of the LDB’s corporate impact platform, Multiply the Good, since 2022, Do You Proud has raised more than $233,000 in BCL and BCCS customer donations. One hundred per cent of donations from customers goes directly to QMUNITY – supporting queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people throughout British Columbia with programs focusing on increasing access to mental health and social support services for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
“Do You Proud is one of the ways the LDB demonstrates its support for the government’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation as fundamental values, and acknowledges and honours the 2SLGBTQIA+ community’s hard-fought and ongoing journey to have their basic human rights and freedoms recognized,” said Blain Lawson, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the LDB. “We are proud to see our customers and employees stand behind our commitment to creating safer, more inclusive environments for all, and to giving back to our communities through their generosity to QMUNITY.”
“In a time when queer and trans communities are facing rising hate and isolation in all corners of our province, this record-breaking donation from BCL and BCCS customers is an incredible act of solidarity,” said Michael Robach, Interim Executive Director of QMUNITY. “We’re deeply grateful to every person who chose to donate and stand with our communities this Pride season.”
Do You Proud is just one of the campaigns that operates under the LDB’s Multiply the Good platform which provides a unified vision for how the LDB’s people, customers, and industry partners can work together to enhance the good they do for the people of British Columbia – today and into the future.
