BURNABY, BC – For the 17th consecutive year, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) has been named one of BC’s Top Employers.
The annual competition, organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, compares employers to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. This special designation awards those BC-based employers leading their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
“The LDB is honoured to be recognized year over year as one of the province’s top employers,” said Blain Lawson, LDB’s General Manager and CEO. “At the LDB, one of our key values is our People – we recognize they are our greatest asset. We look forward to continuing to prioritize our people and our commitment to serving and supporting our province as best we can – maintaining and advancing a healthy, respectful, and fulfilling workplace environment for all.”
BC’s Top Employers’ selection process evaluates: workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial, and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
As one of two branches of government that provides oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province, the LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retail brands of BCLIQUOR (BCL) and BC Cannabis Stores (BCCS). The organization employs approximately 5,600 full- and part-time employees working across 198 BCL stores, 39 BCCS, three wholesale customer centres, four distribution centres, and head office.
The LDB is committed to government’s goals of making life better for people in BC, improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services such as health care, education, and community programming.
