BC Liquor Distribution Branch continues to see upwards trend in donations for Food Banks BC

2025-06-02

BURNABY, BC – Generous donations from BCLIQUOR (BCL) and BC Cannabis Stores (BCCS) customers combined with the supporting efforts of BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) employees raised more than $348,000 during the LDB’s annual Food Banks BC Spring Campaign.

The total raised during this year’s spring campaign, which ran from April 1 to 30, 2025, represents a 15 per cent increase over last year’s donations and a 35 per cent increase over 2023’s total – a promising year-over-year trend, considering the demand for food banks across the province has never been greater than it is today. Since initiation of LDB’s partnership with Food Banks BC in April 2020, customers have donated more than $6 million in donations for Food Banks BC through the annual Spring and Holiday campaigns at BCL and BCCS.

The April 2025 campaign marked LDB’s first Food Banks BC campaign to run under the Multiply the Good banner – the organization’s new corporate impact platform uniting the LDB’s existing social impact campaigns and environmental initiatives under a shared brand; creating a unified vision for how the LDB’s people, customers, and industry partners can work together to enhance the good they do for the people of British Columbia – today and into the future.

“The LDB’s ongoing partnership with Food Banks BC is one of the most significant ways we Multiply the Good,” said Blain Lawson, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the LDB. “Through the commitment shown by our 5,500+ employees across our 237 stores in the communities we serve, the LDB is able to amplify the generosity of our customers. We are honoured and proud to work with Food Banks BC to support hunger relief for people in need in the communities we serve.”

“With growing demand, the LDB’s campaign provides critical support for BC's food banks,” said Dan Huang-Taylor, Executive Director of Food Banks BC. “Food Banks BC appreciates LDB’s commitment to this cause and the British Columbians who continue to show up in support of their local hunger relief agencies. You are making a difference, and we are truly grateful.”
