BC Cannabis Stores now open in Cranbrook, Campbell River

Two new BC Cannabis Stores have opened in Campbell River and Cranbrook as the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) continues to establish a network of stores across the province.

The BC Cannabis Store (BCCS) in Cranbrook is located at 425 Victoria Avenue North (unit #102), while the BCCS in Campbell River is operating within the Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre at 1416 Island Highway (unit #130). The LDB expects to have a total of 15 stores open before the end of the year.

“We are very excited to be opening two more BC Cannabis Stores today,” said Kevin Satterfield, Director of Retail Operations, Cannabis Operations.“We are committed to being good neighbours and integrating into the communities of Cranbrook and Campbell River.”

Each store will be staffed by about 16 employees, including a store manager, two assistant store managers and knowledgeable cannabis consultants. Staff are committed to keeping cannabis out of the hands of youth and will employ a strict two-ID check for people who look under 30, which ensures only those over the age of 19 enter the stores.

Regular operating hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. BCCS offer a range of product including dried cannabis flower, oils, capsules and pre-rolls approved by Health Canada.

The LDB has received approval from local governments to open 21 additional stores in Fort St John, Oliver, Powell River, Port Alberni, Port Coquitlam, Prince George (two stores), Salmon Arm, Terrace, Trail, Williams Lake, Courtenay, Quesnel, Sechelt, Vernon, Penticton, Parksville, Prince Rupert, Maple Ridge and Vanderhoof. Two stores are already open and operating in Kamloops.

Each BCCS is being designed to be bright, clean, welcoming and professional, while creating a safe and favourable alternative to purchasing non-medical cannabis from the illicit market.

The LDB is one of two branches of Government responsible for the wholesale distribution and retail sale of non-medical cannabis and beverage. It contributes over $1.1 billion annually to the Province of B.C., providing funding for services like health care and education.
