BURNABY, B.C. – The BC Liquor Distribution Branch’s (LDB’s) recent fundraising campaign for the Red Cross’ wildfire relief efforts raised $1,399,436. This figure includes $726,711 generously donated by BCLIQUOR (BCL) and BC Cannabis Store (BCCS) customers and $672,725 in matching funds from the Government of Canada.
From August 7 to September 4, 2026, all BCL and BCCS locations invited customers to donate to the Canadian Red Cross 2026 British Columbia Wildfires Appeal in support of relief, recovery, and resilience efforts for those impacted by wildfires in the province. On August 28, the Government of Canada announced it would match eligible donations made to the appeal.
“Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by the wildfires, which includes our own employees, customers and industry partners,” said Erin McEwan, Interim General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, of the LDB. “We are deeply appreciative of everyone who supported the campaign in our stores, the Government of Canada, and our partners at the Canadian Red Cross who came together to provide much needed help.”
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation to the 2026 British Columbia Wildfires Appeal,” said Pat Quealey, Vice President of British Columbia and Yukon at the Canadian Red Cross. “Funds raised through this campaign will help individuals and communities most affected by the wildfires in British Columbia this summer access support as they recover from these devastating events.”
