The Liquor Distribution Branch supports local charities through the employee fundraising initiative The Community Fund, and with the Charitable Fund (coin donation receptacle) in stores.
As an organization, the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) actively participates in the Provincial Employees Community Services Fund (PECSF, “the Community Fund”), a federally registered Employee Trust since 1965, and the only authorized body to canvass provincial government employees in the workplace. The Community Fund is a coordinated workplace fundraising campaign to support local charitable organizations that strengthen our communities. Fundraising efforts are supported voluntarily by employees.
The Community Fund allows employees to donate to the registered charity of their choice. A key component of the Community Fund is that funds are distributed on a community basis. If a local or regional office of a designated charity exists, the Fund distributes the money raised within that region to the local branch. Additionally, 100 per cent of the money goes to the charity while all administrative costs are borne by the government.
The Annual Provincial Community Fund Campaign is launched every fall; however, pledges are accepted throughout the year.
Since 2006, LDB employees have generously contributed over $1.6 million to charities of their choice, in British Columbia.
